Aunt Kathy's Picnic Cake
My cousin Julie threw me a surprise birthday party last weekend, it was so much fun!!!! My Aunt Kathy got me a wonderful book filled with some of her favorite recipes and stories behind them. This Picnic Cake is one of her favorite recipes. It is so yummy, i made it for my birthday cake!
PICNIC CAKE-
ingredients
1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 cup milk
2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla
topping
1/4 pound marshmallows
1/2 cup brown sugar packed
1/2 cup chopped nuts
directions
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and continue mixing.
Sift dry ingredients together.
Alternately add dry ingredients and milk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
Add vanilla and mix.
Pour into a well greased and floured 19x13 inch pan. Cut the marshmallows in half crosswise. arrange marshmallows on top of the batter. Mix the brown sugar and nuts, sprinkle over marshmallows and batter.
Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes.
